Major Musa Gbow has worked with the Dallaire Initiative since 2015. He served as the first-ever CPA in an African Union mission where he provided training to the AU Mission Peacekeeping troops in Somalia and the Somali National Security Forces (SNSF) on protecting children in armed conflict. As our most seasoned Master Trainer, we have deployed Major Gbow in numerous challenging contexts in order to get programs, projects, and field offices established and off the ground.

Major Gbow first took the Dallaire Initiative training as an officer in the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed forces (RSLAF) and subsequently the Training-of-Trainers (TOT) program in 2013. As our CPA in Somalia, he was able to exponentially increase training, build partnership with national forces and mentor additional master trainers.

In 2018, Major Gbow became our Regional Training Manager for Africa based in Kigali, Rwanda. He was tasked with initiating the development of a regional centre of training and learning on the prevention of the recruitment and use of child soldiers. Most recently, he was promoted to the role of Senior Child Protection Advisor, in the African Union Peace and Security Unit. He is currently based out of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
