Allons-y | January 2019

This third volume of Allons-y features four articles on how militarization and armed violence targets and harms children, and how this trauma is challenging to undo: one article discusses the plight of children in autocratic North Korea, one the sexual violence targeted at girls in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), one the shortcomings of the reintegration process for children released from armed groups in the DRC, and one the mental health support challenges faced by refugee youth.

Commentary: "We Must Be Ready for Revenge"

Robert Huish, an associate professor of International Development Studies, comments on Peter Steele’s article on childhood in North Korea and reminds us that despite the recent presidential summits and opening with the South, grave human rights abuses continue under Kim Jong Un.
