100 Series RUF Logo (1)

The 100 Series Rules™ have been developed for the benefit of the entire maritime industry and under-pinned by a thorough public international and criminal law legal review using an objective international law test of what is “reasonable and necessary” when force is used, as a lawful last resort, in self-defense. This objective international legal test is deemed to be of a higher legal standard than that of subjective national legislative provisions for self-defense.

The Dallaire Initiative is supporting entity of the 100 Series Rules™.

The Human Rights at Sea (HRAS) initiative is the world’s first independent point of legal reference for all matters concerning business and human rights within the maritime industry. It has been conceived and developed by the London-based 9 Bedford Row International, which also produced the seminal 100 Series Rules on the Use of Force (of which the Dallaire Initiative is a supporting entity). The Dallaire Initiative will be contributing to the HRAS project as a “collaborative partner”, providing guidance on the intersection of maritime security and child protection, particularly the instances of child maritime piracy.
